Spine and Nose Bust

Spine and Nose Bust

Ceramic · March · 2024

I used sculpture raku to make a base, and then I added coils to the spine and neck area, which I then carved and sharpened. then I made a jaw-looking area, which I turned into an area that could be used as a dish to that, I attached a nose I sculpted by itself. Once Bisque fired, I glazed the majority of the piece with Iron Oxide and laid it on thick so it would turn out sort of purple. Then I painted floating blue on the spire and neck area. The kiln shut off overnight, and the glaze came out brown, not the colors I wanted, and with cracking in the front.
