Carved Box

While not actually made out of wood, this piece was made using recycled clay by rolling slabs and attaching them to form a box. After it was leather hard, I added coils and smoothed them out, later carving away at them to be sharper and more abstract. After the first fire, I glazed the inside of the box with Tourmaline glaze, then stained the outside to look like wood using Iron Oxide. I was inspired by woodworking, the art form that my Papa and uncle practice.
